✨ SheetPolish — User Guide
SheetPolish is a formatting engine for Google Sheets: it reads your data, detects what each
column contains, and applies professional formatting in one click.
Getting started
Option A — Beta template (available now)
- Open the beta template and click Make a copy when prompted.
- In your copy:
Extensions → SheetPolish → Open SheetPolish.
- First run only: Google asks you to authorize the add-on (see the yellow box below).
Option B — Google Workspace Marketplace
Our Marketplace listing is currently in Google's review queue. Once approved, you'll be able
to install SheetPolish into all your spreadsheets in one click from this page.
⚠️ About the "unverified app" warning: during our beta, Google shows a caution screen
when you authorize. This is standard for every add-on still completing Google's verification
process. To proceed: click Advanced → Go to SheetPolish (unsafe) → Allow.
The add-on only receives access to the spreadsheet it's used in — never your other files —
and this warning disappears once Google's review completes.
Using SheetPolish
- Put data in the sheet (paste from anywhere — CSV, Excel, a website).
- Click any cell inside your table — or select a range to polish only that part.
- Open the sidebar, pick a theme, adjust options, click ✨ Polish.
- Not happy? Ctrl+Z reverts everything.
What it detects and does
| Your data | What SheetPolish applies |
| Header row | Bold styling, freeze, background color from theme |
| Dates | Mar 5, 2026 format, centered |
| Prices / amounts | Thousands separators, 2 decimals, right-aligned |
| Percentages / rates | 12.4% format, right-aligned |
| Whole numbers | Thousands separators, right-aligned |
| URLs & emails | Accent color, left-aligned |
| Everything | Banded rows, tidy borders, auto-fit column widths |
Options
- Freeze header row — keeps headers visible while scrolling.
- Auto-fit column widths — resizes columns to content (with sane limits).
- Clip overflowing text — stops long text spilling into neighbors.
- Hide sheet gridlines — extra-clean look for reports.
- Trim extra whitespace — removes stray spaces from pasted data.
Free vs Pro
Free gives you 20 polishes per month with every theme and feature.
Pro is a one-time $19 — lifetime, unlimited polishes, all future themes:
get Pro here.
After purchase, your license key appears on the receipt. In the sidebar, paste it into the
Gumroad license key box and click Activate Pro. Reinstalling or switching
computers? Just activate again with the same key.
Troubleshooting
- The menu doesn't appear — refresh the browser tab; the menu registers when the
spreadsheet loads.
- Numbers stay as plain text (e.g.
0.124 doesn't become
12.4%) — your sheet's locale probably doesn't match the data's decimal style.
File → Settings → Locale → United States, re-paste the data, polish again.
- "Free limit reached" — the counter resets on the 1st of each month, or go
unlimited with Pro.
- License key rejected — check for spaces before/after the key; it must be the key
from your Gumroad receipt, not your order number.
Privacy in one sentence
SheetPolish only touches the spreadsheet you run it in, does all processing inside Google's
own script environment, and its single network request is the license check (the key only —
never your data). Full details: privacy policy.
